Face Lift and Facial Enhancement Surgery

Aging is inevitable and its legacy is left visibly on our faces, year after year, in tell-tale crow's feet, drooping jowls, sagging eyelids, and creases that stretch from nose to chin. The good news is that modern Rhytidectomy - the technical name for face lift - can remove years from your face and neck with minimal side effects. The recovery is very low- to no-pain and, within weeks, your renewed and rejuvenated countenance will be the envy of your friends.

Are you considering whether facial enhancements are right for you? Are you curious as to how the procedure is done, and what to expect before and after? Here is a mini-guide to Patients Medical face lift and facial enhancement procedures.

What can I expect during my facelift?

Your de-aging journey begins with in-depth consultations with your plastic surgeon. It's important to discuss your goals and objectives.

During a face lift, the doctor will make an incision along your hairline at the temple, around your ear, and along the scalp behind your ear. The skin will be gently lifted as the surgeon removes excess fat and skin, and gently pulls the skin into position before stitching it in place. Although the pain is minimal, you can expect some level of swelling and discomfort, which will be minimized by mild prescription medication, as well as thorough pre- and post-operative suggestions combining dietary recommendations, supplements, and specialized treatments.

Pre-Operative and Post-Operative Face Lift Suggestions

Here are some things you can do before and after your face lift or face enhancing procedures to reduce swelling and discomfort, and to promote healing.

Eat an anti-inflammatory diet.
Inflammation can hinder the healing process. Try to avoid foods that increase inflammation, such as sugars, processed foods, dairy products, red and processed meats, alcohol and refined grains. Increase your intake of anti-inflammatory foods such as raw and cooked vegetables and fruits, whole grains and healthy fats.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy can be used before and after treatment to decrease microbes that cause infection, reduce bruising and swelling, and speed up the healing process.

IV Nutrient Therapy.
Vitamin C, B, A, Zinc, and other nutrients can help to facilitate natural healing. IV Nutrient Therapy gets these crucial healing nutrients directly into your blood stream.

Supplements.
Your doctor may also suggest taking supplements like Arnica montana, Bromelain, and/or Quercetin, which are all anti-inflammatory agents that can reduce bruising and swelling.

In addition to classic facelift procedures, your doctor may suggest other facial enhancements based on your comments and questions. Some of the most requested procedures include things like:

Botox.
Used to fill deep forehead and frown lines, Botox is a non-surgical procedure. The doctor uses a special serum, comprised of bacterial proteins, which is injected into the affected forehead/brow tissues. The proteins mitigate nerve activity in overactive frown muscles, smoothing persistent frown lines.

Dermal fillers.
Collagen is a natural fiber our body produces to provide tissue structure. As we age, our collagen stores are depleted. Dermal fillers are synthetic collagen replicas. They can be injected into various regions of the face to restore a more youthful appearance.

Fat transfer.
Ever found yourself thinking, "I wish I could take fat from here and move it over there?" Now you can! Also called fat grafting, this procedure is used to remove fat from one area of your body and inject it into another. It's commonly used to fill sunken areas in the face and/or to plump thinning areas such as lips and cheeks.
